College Football Star
Dwayne Haskins was a star quarterback at Ohio State who set a Big Ten record for single season passing yards, touchdowns, and total offense in 2018. He was drafted by the Washington Commanders in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. He struggled with inconsistency as a young quarterback on the field during two seasons with Washington. Washington released Haskins from his contract, and he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2021 season. He made the Steelers roster and was the third string quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. He was expected to compete for a roster spot for the 2022 season. At the time of his passing, Haskins was in South Florida training with other Steelers for the upcoming season.
