Brewer, Richard W. Jr. COHOES Richard Brewer died peacefully and unexpectedly on January 12, 2022. Richard was known for his wit and dry humor, typical of one of Icelandic heritage. Family and friends described him as steadfast and contemplative. He became a parent late in life and was a devoted father to his daughter, Anna. Winters were filled with his passion for skiing, especially at Whiteface Mountain with Anna. He met his wife of 28 years, Paula (Blizniak), while living in Lake Placid (LP), which became their part time home for many years. He was a dedicated volunteer at the LP Ski Jumps as a starter and a founding member of the LP Rotary Club, which he remained active in representing the club on the District Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. He used his experience as a certified financial planner to assist the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany chairing their finance committee and acting as treasurer. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Kathy) and Mark (Mona); sister, Stephanie Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will occur at a future date. To honor his DEI work, donations to the Center for Law and Justice, Albany, NY (cflj.org) are welcomed.

Sorry to recently hear of your passing. Although it´s been a long time since the Saranac Lake days I´ve always remembered your wit, humor and especially your love of motorcycling which we enjoyed many times together back in the day. Rest In Peace my friend.

I am so very sorry to learn of Dick's passing. I first met Dick in the early 70's while working at the Steak & Stinger in Lake Placid. Dick was one of the kindest men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
My heartfelt condolences to his entire family.
Rest In Peace, Dick...

Paula, I was so sad to hear from Bob Hanna that Dick had died. He was so kind and wonderful to Bill who thought he was a very special person. He was. I enjoyed his stop over visits when he was in Lake Placid and was so happy to have known him as well as to know what a great job he and Bill had done with the Rotary Club.
I hope you and Anna have moved to the place of happy memories. I think that's what Dick would have wanted for you.
Take care, Barb
