Gilford Myers
March 13, 1937 - January 22, 2021
Lee's Summit, Missouri - Gilford Evan Myers, 83, of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed peacefully with his wife at his side on Friday, January 22, 2021. The family plans a memorial service in the months ahead when we can safely gather. Donations in his memory may be made to ShowMe Christian Youth Home, PO Box 6, LaMonte, MO 65337.
Evan was born in 1937 to Gilford C. Myers and Wilma Kramer in Garden City, Kansas. He moved with his parents and three brothers to Dodge City, and there they built and operated the Creamery (dairy, delivery, and diner) and the Nursery (landscaping). He played snare drum and was a lover of American cool Jazz. He graduated from Emporia State Teachers College in the spring of 1958, and married Elinor Markham on September 6th of the same year. He taught school for one year before expressing his gift for sales for Ortho Chemical, Mass Mutual, Hallmark Cards, Modern Systems, and Healthco Krause Dental supply. He then built his own business as owner of Evan Myers and Associates—a dental practice broker and consultant—before retiring in 2008. He was a member of several local churches, Toastmasters International, American Dental Sales, Metro Men's Chorus, and Senior Barn Players Entertainers. He and his brothers are known for their storytelling, and he is, especially, for his jokes. Before he moved to assisted living and skilled care, he sang in such facilities to entertain the residents. From his perspective, above all, he was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Evan was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Phil and Kurt.
He is survived by his wife; his children: Richard Kevan Myers and wife Shannon, and Suzanne Marie Schroer and husband Michael; his grandchildren: Collin and Camron Myers, and Lauren and Leah Schroer; and by his brother, Ray and wife Kim; and nieces and nephews.

I am fortunate to have known and enjoyed Evan both socially and in business for over 30 years and know that we have all lost a good friend and colleague in Evan. God rest his soul.

So sorry to hear of Evan´s passing. We actually called him a few months ago after thinking of you both but did not reach him, but you both were on our minds. We appreciate how he poured into our lives both before we were married and after and saw that we attended the Weekend to Remember conference (and paid our way). What an inspiration to us both, and we hope the Lord uses our marriage to help others the way you both helped us.
