by Kirk Fox

Prince Markie Dee was a rapper with the legendary hip-hop group the Fat Boys who were hugely popular in the 1980’s.

Hip-Hop Pioneer

Prince Markie Dee (born Mark Morales) formed the pioneering rap trio the Fat Boys in 1983 with Darren Robinson (the Human Beatbox) and Damon Wimbley (Kool Rock Ski). They originally called themselves the Disco 3 but quickly changed their name to the Fat Boys. The group was known for beatboxing and a down to earth sense of humor. They were one of the most popular rap groups in the 1980’s with the hit songs “The Fat Boys Are Back,” “Can You Feel It?,” and they teamed with the Beach Boys for a hit cover version of “Wipeout.” The Fat Boys starred in the hit comedy movie “Disorderlies” in 1987. After the Fat Boys broke up, Prince Markie Dee had a solo career, produced songs for Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez and was a radio DJ.
